Wine picnic at the Haritatou estate, Kefalonia
Activity Description
A visit to the Estate is an opportunity to experience the Kefallonian terroir in its fullest sense. Taste indigenous varieties, discover how they interconnect with everything else growing on this land and with the people living on it.
Walking through the organic vineyards, the winery and the family house dating from 1863, visitors discover that what seemed insignificant until a few moments ago, is part of a huge puzzle. Each plant, the incline of the trees, a stack of stones, the names given to wines and domestic animals. Everything takes on a different meaning. With the guided tour, they realize that carrying on with tradition may sometimes require risky innovations while at the same time, what many consider “new approaches” – such as the zero waste philosophy – are compatible with cultivation habits of a distant past which we practice long before environmental collective awareness.
Following the tour, visitors have the opportunity to taste 4 or 5 of our labels. Other options include enjoying whole bottles of wine in the farmhouse garden or the vineyard picnic area, try wine cocktails or discover the amazing word of wine and food pairing.
We will certainly agree on one thing:
Professionalism is compatible with the warmest hospitality, and yes, joy can indeed be found in simple things, like a glass of wine.
